Rewards of My Work

My organization helped a lovely couple recently. They were supremely grateful. They stopped by yesterday with thank-you gifts for my co-worker and me. My co-worker got a beautiful set of Japanese serving bowls.

I got dwarves. Seven of them.

    Dwarves.

    Huh.

Are you happy with these dwarves? Or would you rather have had the Japanese serving bowls?

Perhaps I wasn't clear. I would VASTLY prefer Japanese bowls or almost anything else. What does one do with dwarves?! (I gave them to a friend's granddaughter.)

Okay, that's what I thought. But then I thought, "Maybe she really likes...dwarves...?" Some people do. Which is a disturbing thought, but there you go.

    Wait. Dwarves? Seriously?

While I, too, would be kind of disappointed, you've got to admit that's at least a little awesome.

Oh, I agree with Melinda. Extraordinarily awesome, in the "so bad it's good" way.

Um, I guess in a way it's nice that they put some thought into it, but maybe they were giving it to your inner child and not the actual you.

At first I thought you were happy about this, and I was kina like...huh. Thank you for clarifying. Because dwarves? Compared to Japanese bowls? What the hell?
