At the Car Wash
The dental hygienist finally persuaded me to get an electric toothbrush. I've been resisting for years, mainly because I didn't (and still don't) want to own yet another thing that needs to be plugged in/charged (cell phone, iPod, wireless computer keyboard/mouse ... ), or that has a component that needs to be periodically replaced (Britta filter, contact lenses ... ). I also don't want another thing cluttering up my bathroom.
But in the name of periodontal health, I bought the Vitality, which promises to produce a "healthy mouth that shows in your smile." However, during the seemingly endless minute during which the "brushing" is supposed to last, it feels like there is a fucking car wash going on in my mouth.
Just sharing.

Such a negative attitude. My Dentist had me switch to one of those acoustic electric toothbrushes and it has improved my dental health. Of course I'm not one of those manic people who times my brushing to be a full minute. Perhaps that is the source of your unenjoyment.
I resisted for a long time as well. Mainly because I felt like I was giving into the laziness that has infiltrated the American culture. Alas, I gave in and I am hooked. My teeth feel super clean and there was very little scraping going on inside my mouth at my last dental appointment. (YAY! I hate scraping.) I will say, though, that I only use my every other day. It's a bit rough on my soft and sensitive gums.
Some of the toothbrushes have bigger heads than others; I am kind of a smaller person, so I find that the Oral B toothbrush works well for me because it has a small circle for a head. I used to get a ton of caveties (up to five a visit) and now I haven't had any in a few years - but that may be due to the fact that I am getting older, and are less likely to develop them.
Flaxseed oil is great for your gums. It's an anti-inflammatory and known to actually reverse periodontal disease. Take a tablespoon a day. Every time, the dental hygienist comments on how excellent my gums are.
